Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Kaisei is a private, on-device recovery and readiness app developed by Orochi Systems for iPhone and Apple Watch. It reads the health data your Apple Watch already records overnight and turns it into a daily recovery score, a sleep read, and a view of your vitals. Kaisei is built around a single principle: your biometrics are computed and stored on your device and are never uploaded to an Orochi Systems server.
2. No Account and No Orochi Systems Backend
Kaisei does not require an Orochi Systems account, and there is no Orochi Systems login, cloud, or backend for your health data. In the implementation reviewed for this policy, Kaisei does not transmit your HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, vitals, recovery scores, tags, notes, or insights to any Orochi Systems server. The app's privacy manifest declares no data collected for tracking or developer collection.
3. Apple Health (HealthKit) Data
With your permission, Kaisei reads health data from Apple Health to compute your scores. Depending on what your devices record and what you allow, this can include heart-rate variability, resting and workout heart rate, sleep stages and time in bed, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, workouts and cardiovascular load, cardio fitness (VO₂max), and — only if you choose — menstrual cycle data used to read your mornings against your cycle-phase normal. HealthKit data is used on your device to produce your scores and insights, is never used for advertising, and is never sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes. You can review and revoke Kaisei's Health permissions at any time in the Apple Health app.
4. Local Storage and App Group Sharing
Kaisei stores your computed results — recovery scores, sleep and vitals summaries, tags, notes, streak, settings, and derived insights — in local storage on your device. It uses a shared app-group container so the iPhone app, the Apple Watch app, widgets, and watch-face complications can read the small amount of data needed to render their surfaces. This data stays on your devices.
5. Optional iCloud Backup
So a reinstall does not reset your progress, Kaisei can back up a small amount of durable state — such as your check-in streak and your night tags — to your own private iCloud using Apple's key-value store. This is tied to the Apple account signed in on your device, not to an Orochi Systems account, and Kaisei only uses it when you are signed in to iCloud so it never prompts you. Your full health history and scores are recomputed on-device from Apple Health and are not part of this backup. Apple processes iCloud data under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
6. Subscriptions and Purchases
Kaisei Pro is sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Purchases, subscription status, trials, and restores are handled by Apple; Kaisei receives only the entitlement information needed to unlock Pro features and does not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple processes billing under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
7. Notifications
If you enable notifications, Kaisei may schedule local notifications on your device — for example, that your morning recovery score is ready, a wind-down cue, or trial reminders. Notification content may include your recovery number so the alert is useful. Notifications are scheduled locally; you can manage or revoke notification permission in Apple settings.
8. Widgets, Complications, Siri, and Shortcuts
Kaisei may expose your recovery score and related summaries to Apple system surfaces such as Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, StandBy, watch-face complications, the Dynamic Island, App Intents, Siri, and Shortcuts, so you can see or ask for your recovery without opening the app. These surfaces read the same local data and do not send it to Orochi Systems.
9. Tags, Notes, and Self-Experiments
You can tag your nights (for example alcohol, late caffeine, or medication), add your own tags, log how you feel, and run before/after self-experiments. Kaisei uses this information on your device to find personal correlations ("nights after alcohol, recovery ~12 pts lower") using local statistics. This analysis happens on-device and is not uploaded.
10. Data Export and Deletion
Kaisei can export your data as a single readable file that you choose to save or share; protect exported files after they leave the app. You can erase every record Kaisei has created from within the app, and deleting Kaisei from your devices removes its local data. State backed up to your iCloud key-value store can be managed through Apple's iCloud controls.
11. Analytics, Ads, and Tracking
Kaisei is not built around advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or the sale of personal data. In the implementation reviewed for this policy, we did not identify an Orochi Systems analytics pipeline that uploads your health data or behavioral history. If analytics are introduced in a future version, they will be disclosed in the app and this policy will be updated.
12. Security
Kaisei relies on Apple platform security, device sandboxing, the app-group container, and encrypted transport where applicable. No storage or sync system can be guaranteed completely secure, but by keeping your health data on-device Kaisei minimizes exposure by design.
13. Not a Medical Device
Kaisei is a wellness and fitness tool, not a medical device. Vitals, sleep, and recovery are framed as personal awareness, never as diagnosis. Kaisei does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition and is not intended for emergency monitoring.
14. Children's Privacy
Kaisei is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
15. International Users
If you use Kaisei outside your home jurisdiction, local privacy laws may apply. Apple platform providers may process operational data such as App Store billing and iCloud under their own infrastructure and legal obligations.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
